Resources to help Local Detention Management Committees
Adverse consequences of remote detention can be mitigated by measures that include providing defense counsel greater ease of access to remotely detained clients, and by ensuring that detainees have reasonable opportunities to review e-discovery. Remote detention can be reduced by lowering the rate of detention. The RDWG recommends the formation of local Detention Management Committees to address these and other detention-related challenges faced in each district.
Mission of the local Detention Management Committees is to create policies and practices to address detention management challenges in each district. Each Committee should establish a meeting schedule to ensure regular discussion and collaboration.
Membership of the Local Detention Management Committees may include:
